Stephen qualified in 1996 and worked with Clifford Chance prior to joining the firm in 1999. He became a partner in 2005 and has extensive experience in public company takeovers, secondary issues and general corporate advisory and M&A work. His clients include Beale plc, Gresham Computing plc, Universe Group plc and South East Fund Managers Limited.

His recent experience includes advising:

  • the listed City based financial services recruiter Imprint plc on several acquisitions and on its eventual £45million takeover by Premier Group
  • the listed Bournemouth-based retailer Beale plc on its £7.5million acquisition of 19 department stores from Anglia Regional Co-operative Society, a £8.5million preference share issue and its re-admission to the Official List
  • the shareholders of wealth management advisory business Andersen-Charnley Limited on its sale to Collins Stewart plc for up to £15million
  • the shareholders of renewable energy solutions provider Econergy Limited on its sale to British Gas for £6.5million
  • the South East Seed Fund, the early stage investment arm of Finance South East, on a number of separate equity investments in the technology sector
  • Lime Wood Group Limited on a hotel disposal and related equity investment alongside the former Hotel du Vin management team in new boutique country hotels operator, Home Grown Hotels Limited.
