"Dedicated entirely to professional discipline, Nick
Leale assists regulators in investigations and hearings."
(Chambers UK, A Client's Guide to the Legal Profession
2010)
Nick leads our Professional Regulatory team in London and
is recognised as a leader in his field by Chambers. He acts
for all of our regulatory clients and has advised two regulators in
relation to the development of their regulatory regime, having
recently completed an overhaul of regulators legislative reform in
consultation with their in-house team. This included a review of
transparency of process, lay and professional membership of
committees and the standard of proof to be applied in disciplinary
hearings.
As a former barrister called to the bar in 1998, Nick is a
specialist regulatory advocate dealing with often very complex
cases including vulnerable witnesses, sensitive and high profile
cases.
Nick is Treasurer of the Association of Regulatory and
Disciplinary Lawyers. He also regularly lectures at national
seminars, most recently on 'Evidential Issues Facing Professional
Regulators' (September 2007) and 'Making Appeal Proof Decisions'
(June 2007).
