Chris has been working within the asset based lending arena all of his professional career since he qualified as a solicitor in 1992. During this time Chris has worked in private practice and in-house for both a trade financier and an Asset Based Lender gaining valuable experience of the day to day challenges faced by financiers, the result of which have given Chris the ability to give extremely practical advice always with the clients goals, working environment and sensitivities in mind. Chris' extremely broad range of experience and dedication to the asset based lending arena make him a valued and trusted advisor to his various asset based lending and finance clients. 

Chris is also qualified as a barrister and solicitor in Nova Scotia, Canada and has held a practicing certificate there since he qualified in 2008.

Chris' expertise covers advising on all aspects of asset based lending, receivables financing, trade financing and banking, principally for UK based clients but often with multi-jurisdictional facilities. On the contentious side, he specialises in debt and asset recovery, particularly following fraud including obtaining and enforcing injunctive relief often on a worldwide basis. On the non-contentious side, his specialism's include advising on and drafting finance facility documents, security documents (corporate and personal), drafting of new and complimentary finance facilities, documenting finance elements of business sales and acquisitions, refinancing and other similar transactions including syndicated lending transactions. He often advises on compliance issues particularly in respect of the Data Protection Act and the Construction Industry Scheme.

Chris has worked on some of the largest, most high profile and complex asset based finance transactions in the UK, has successfully litigated for clients in various jurisdictions including the English Court of Appeal, has experience of mediation and other alternative dispute resolution strategies and is entirely comfortable advising on any day to day issues that may affect an asset based lender or any of its clients.

Chris sits on the Asset Based Finance Association Legal & Technical Committee and Operations Forum and presents regularly on various aspects of his practice areas. Chris is the chairman of the Asset Based Finance Association working party dealing with financial issues in the recruitment sector. Chris Heads the Asset Based Lending team at Blake Lapthorn, which is part of the firm's Finance sector group which is complimented by its Banking, Insolvency and Business Recovery, Corporate and Commercial Recoveries teams.
