Richard joined the firm in 1997 and
specialises in construction law. His practice focuses more on
non-contentious work, becoming increasingly engaged by a wide range
of developers, contractors and professionals on various commercial,
housing and mixed projects. He advises on procurement,
drafting and preparation of building contracts, professional
appointments and all related documentation (including warranties,
bonds, novation agreements and guarantees).
Richard has handled all of the major
standard forms of building contract, including NEC3, PPC2000 and
the 2005 edition of the JCT forms. He continues to handle
disputes on a range of contractual issues including professional
negligence. He has also been instructed in numerous
contractual and statutory adjudications.
Richard is a member of the Technology &
Construction Court Solicitors Association (TeCSA), the Adjudication
Society and he is the Oxford regional co-ordinator of the Society
of Construction Law. He contributes legal articles for
various periodicals including QS Week and the SECBE (South East
Centre for the Built Environment) Quarterly Review.
