Our recruitment process for 2014 training contracts and 2012
vacation scheme is now open. To apply for a training contract with
/ without vacation scheme please go to our 'online application
form'.
Please find below a summary of some of the key things you might
wish to consider if making an application at that time.
some key things to know...
- Our online application
form gives you the opportunity to give
examples of where you have used particular skills that we have
identified that go to make a good lawyer. Try to give examples
of your broader experiences rather than just concentrating on law
related experience. Applications are considered throughout the
year and not just around application deadline. Places are
allocated on our assessment days as
suitable applications arrive and leaving your form to the last
minute means there are fewer spaces remaining therefore reducing
your chances of being invited along. Our online application
form usually goes live at the beginning of
November each year receiving applications for the following year's
process. So no excuse!
- If invited along to an assessment
days then the first thing to do is to revisit
your application to remind you what you have said. There may
be some time that has elapsed since completing the form and you may
wish to add some additional information, such as exam results or
work experience gained. Do some more research on the firm and
prepare for the interview. Think about the sort of questions
you are likely to be asked and have a suitable response
ready. Preparation is key and will perhaps give you the edge
over other candidates.
- On the assessment
day you will be asked to complete a series of
critical reasoning tests along with a drafting and group exercise,
and a one to one interview with a senior member of the
firm. If, from the assessment day, you
are shortlisted to attend a second interview you will be required
to do a short ten minute presentation on a subject of your choice,
but not legal related. The second interview is a panel
interview with the Trainee principal, a
partner and senior member of the HR team.
The whole process can be nerve wracking, but we try to make it
as relaxed as it can be for every candidate allowing you to perform
to the best of your ability.
