great green challenge

Blake Lapthorn and James Cowper held a 'great green challenge'
on Wednesday 21 April at Blake Lapthorn's Oxford office. The
challenge was to build a machine that would lift an egg by one
meter, and hold it there for 10 seconds. Teams of four and
five had four forms of renewable energy to help them perform the
task (biomass, water, wind and solar) together with the
following equipment.
- a set of K'Nex
- one solar panel and gearing kit
- 20 sheets of A4 paper
- 4m of string
- rubber bands
- a desk fan
- desk lamp
- water bottle with water available to fill it
- masking take
