Blake Lapthorn Tarlo Lyons is delighted to
report that Nicola Fillery, one of the firm's Corporate Finance
team in Oxford, was presented with the 'Dealmaker of the Year'
award at the Thames Valley Deals Awards.
The Dealmaker of the Year award is awarded to
the corporate finance professional that has demonstrated
outstanding success in generating business and deals throughout the
Thames Valley region. Nominated by clients and other
professionals in the region, Nicola won the award based on the
deals that she has handled throughout the year - these have
included deals up to £165 million and have been a mixture of buying
and selling on the M&A side.
Nicola was the only solicitor short-listed in
a group of five individuals who included venture capitalists,
corporate finance accountants and corporate bankers and her
award was one of only two that was actually voted for on the night
by the 360 guests from the Thames Valley corporate finance
community.
"Given the quality of the competition, this
award reflects the regional strengths of Blake Lapthorn Tarlo
Lyons, and the fact that deal-origination is a focus across all of
the key strands of the professional community in the Thames
Valley," said Dan Howlett, Deputy Head of Corporate and Structured
Banking UK at HSBC, who won the Corporate Banker of the Year
award.

reflects the voice of the region’s corporate finance
community. I am thrilled to have won the award particularly
given the high calibre of my fellow short-listed candidates,"
commented Nicola.
The award comes on the back of another very
busy year for the Corporate Finance team in Oxford who have
completed numerous high profile deals, many of which have been in
the climate change, recruitment, health care and technology
sectors.
Blake Lapthorn Tarlo Lyons was also the only
Oxford firm to be among the three law firms short-listed for 'Law
Firm of the Year'.

As well as general M&A, Nicola specialises
in IPOs and private equity transactions. She has spent a
number of years working in private equity advising both investors

companies to regulated stock exchanges.
