Blake Lapthorn and Strictly Education held a half day conference on the latest legal developments for the process of converting to academy status and the issues faced post-conversion.

Elizabeth described the preparation needed for conversion with some common pitfalls and case studies.

Nick and Barry covered some of the key areas for consideration when making a decision to convert around HR, property and most importantly finance, providing practical advice and experience.

James discussed the duties and responsibilities of an Academy director. 
11.40 am planning for post conversion - regulation
  Stephen Murfitt, Professional Regulatory partner, Blake Lapthorn
Stephen has worked with many schools and colleges as well as the Institute for Learning and the General Teaching Council. Academy schools will be responsible for regulatory issues such as discipline food, environment and health and safety. Stephen focused on disciplinary issues with recent case studies.

Debbie, a trained teacher, described the roles and responsibilities of the employer regarding issues such as recruitment and re-structuring.
