connecting with donors

A report published by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) found that sophisticated donors want charities to demonstrate their effectiveness and to adopt new forms of communication. The report is based on a survey of over 200 CAF and non-CAF donors.

Some of the key findings to emerge from the survey were as follows:

  • charities should use new forms of communication to communicate with donors, such as social networking and email, these being viewed as more appropriate in a recession
  • charities should be forging closer links with each other and perhaps even thinking about partnering with one another
  • nearly all the donors surveyed stated that charities should demonstrate their efficiency to weather the recession and need to ensure that they are showing the impact of their work to donors
  • the donors also recommended ideas which would help charities secure new sources of income.
