new penalties for street fundraisers
The Public Fundraising Regulatory Association (PFRA) is planning
to adopt a 'penalty points' system that would allow it to impose
fines and other sanctions on charities and fundraising agencies
that breaks its rules on face-to-face fundraising. The system could
also be used to penalise practices that breach the Institute of
Fundraising's code of conduct. Once an organisation received a set
number of penalty points, it could be asked to pay a fine or to
retrain its face-to-face fundraisers.
The Fundraising Standards Board and the Institute of Fundraising
have both welcomed the proposal.
