'would your charity benefit from the new CIO status?' -
Southampton, 9 September
details
The long-awaited Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), a
new legal form for charities, is expected to be introduced this
year. The CIO framework was set out in the Charities Act 2006 in
response to requests from charities for a new structure which could
provide some of the benefits of having limited liability and
being incorporated but without being a company and with less
regulation. Uses for existing charities and other
organisations may include options for special purpose charities,
joint ventures, social enterprises and subsidiary structures.
Blake Lapthorn joined forces with Community Action Hampshire to
run a lunchtime seminar on CIOs on 9 September 2011 at its
Southampton office.
