The Environment team regularly advises the firm's construction clients on the environmental aspects of major brownfield projects including legal environmental due diligence and risk assessment, contaminated land, appointment and supervision of environmental consultants, negotiation of environmental warranties, indemnities and other contractual protection and advising on risk management measures, including environmental insurance.

The team includes specialists in the conduct of environmental disputes, judicial review of administrative decisions and environmental warranty and indemnity claims. We also have considerable experience of handling criminal investigations and prosecutions in the environmental and health and safety field. We use in-house advocates wherever possible.

We also frequently provide stand-alone advice to clients on issues arising out of existing and anticipated national, European and international environmental laws including:

  • Site Waste Management Plans Regulations (SWMP Regulations). From 6 April 2008 you must have a site waste management plan (SWMP) for all new construction projects worth more than £300,000 (excluding VAT)
