dispatches - issue five, August 2011

Our Higher Education group publishes a regular ebulletin 'dispatches' to keep you up-to-date with news and topical issues affecting the sector. Please click on the links below to view August's edition.

  • The Intellectual Property Office has issued guidance entitled "Intellectual Asset Management for Universities". The guide offers advice to universities on how to effectively use intellectual property and maximise the benefits of IP created by staff and students. The guide replaces the older version that was first released in 2003.
  • The OIA Annual Report 2010 has now been published. It provides interesting reading regarding the ongoing development of the Adjudicator and the continued increase in the number of complaints received and considered in 2010.
  • Since July 2010, the British Government has stepped up its efforts to restrict migrants coming into the UK which will affect students and education providers alike.
  • For anyone involved in construction and development (or the procurement of projects) 1 October 2011 is likely to be a red letter day.
  • There has been a great deal of fanfare concerning the new Protection of Freedoms Bill that is currently going through parliament.
