The Wessex Local Medical Committees held a seminar at Blake Lapthorn's Southampton office.   

The seminar looked at the nuts and bolts of federations and the corporate structures. 

Mary Chant, partner and head of Blake Lapthorn's Health and Care group, discussed:

  • the different types of federations
  • how federations work
  • why federate
  • legal framework agreements between parties (accountability, governance and payments etc)
  • where do locality commissioning groups fit

 

Andrew Miscampbell, partner and head of Blake Lapthorn's GPs team discussed:

  • the essential features of a company
  • distinctions from a partnership
  • differences between a company limited by shares and limited by guarantee
  • obligations and responsibilities of directors
  • administration required and who does it
