25 November 2008 - Pre-budget Report 2008 - umbrella expenses get
a reprieve
The Chancellor yesterday unveiled his plans for the 2009 Budget
and beyond. The mechanics of Mr Darling's much trailed "fiscal
stimulus" have generated the largest reaction.
October 2008 - Temporary (Agency) Workers Directive
is finally adopted
On 22 October, the European Parliament voted in favour of
adopting the Temporary (Agency) Workers Directive.

On 21 October 2008, the OFT issued
a Statement of Objections against eight recruitment agencies
alleging they have breached the Competition Act 1998. The UK
competition laws aim to prevent businesses acting together to
restrict or distort competition. Businesses should always act
independently of one another.
