Blake Lapthorn appoints new head of Recruitment sector
group
Blake Lapthorn is pleased to announce the appointment of Bridget
Wood as the new head of its Recruitment sector group from 1 January
2010.
Bridget, who is one of the founding members of Blake Lapthorn's
Recruitment sector group, will be responsible for heading up
the team and for continuing to develop and grow the firm's
market-leading Recruitment Sector practice by building on its
offering to meet the needs of its existing and expanding
client base of users and suppliers of staffing services.
Organisations increasingly rely on flexible resource such as
temporary workers, agency workers, self-employed consultants and
contract workers. At the same time, regulation of the recruitment
sector has increased, tax regimes have been tightened and there is
growing concern about which workers have employment rights and, if
so, what rights. Many organisations now outsource their
recruitment processes, including the management of their temporary,
agency and contract worker requirements, which involves complex
legal, tax and commercial issues. Alongside this, the
recruitment process relating to the supply of candidates for
permanent roles is also becoming more complex, with new
developments in recruitment regulation and new immigration
requirements.
Consequently, organisations involved in recruitment and the
world of agency and contract workers need specialist advisers to
deal with the legal, tax and commercial issues which this business
area involves.
Blake Lapthorn's Recruitment sector group was established
in 1992 to meet this need for specialist solutions
providers. The team are recognised experts on
recruitment and resourcing issues, providing specialist legal and
strategic advice to both users and suppliers of UK and
international staffing services. Clients benefit from the range of
complementary legal and commercial experience of team members
relating to recruitment and resourcing, including expertise in
recruitment process outsourcing, disputes and litigation, corporate
finance and mergers and acquisitions, tax, employment, TUPE,
data protection, immigration, regulatory (including BIS
investigations) and commercial work.
Said Bridget: "I am pleased to be taking over the team at this
exciting time as we look forward to the future. The firm's
Recruitment sector group has been involved in some of the most
important cases and industry decision-making in recent years and I
very much look forward to us building on this."
Simon Treherne, head of Blake Lapthorn's Corporate department,
comments: "In a world where there is increasing reliance on
flexible resource, our corporate clients will continue to benefit
from our Recruitment sector group's specialist expertise and I am
delighted that Bridget, with over 14 years' experience of the
recruitment sector, is leading our work in this area."
