keep calm and carry on? - Social Housing conference 2011
details
Blake Lapthorn's Social Housing team held a
Social Housing conference at its Southampton office on Tuesday 8
November and were delighted to welcome the following four
speakers.
speakers:
Paul is the Chief Executive of Orbit
Homes. As
the housing sector goes through a
period of change he will look ahead at what that might mean
for Housing Associations
like Orbit.
"Have we reached a tipping
point?" asks Shelagh
Grant. New homes are urgently needed and the process of
finance, delivery, planning and regulation need both simplification
and a longer term planning horizon.
Mervyn looks at the pressures on the financial
viability of Housing
Associations, the funding climate and new ways of funding
social housing. He will draw on his work on “Viability
and Vitality” with the TSA and his work on active asset management,
as described in his recent Guide for the NHF.
Bellway are a housebuilder operating
in the affordable housing market. Brian will look at what the
future might hold for their operations as the distinction between
the two areas begins to blur.
The speakers provided a view, from their
particular organisations perspective, on the challenges and
opportunities which face the social housing sector in the near
future. To view the slides, please see below.
