Personalisation heralds a significant change in the delivery of services and supported housing. It provides the opportunity for people to transform their lives; giving them the power to choose and control how they are supported. The Coalition Government remains committed to driving the personalisation agenda forward, despite it being unclear as to the level of funding available to support it.

Personalisation requires a new more creative way of thinking about services; it both challenges and provides opportunities for those who deliver services.

Pilot schemes are already running in Hampshire and some providers have begun to work on developing new services. However, there are many questions still to be answered including how services can be developed and what this will mean for service users, staff and business plans.

benefits of the seminar

This seminar went through what the key issues are around personlisation and what you can expect moving forward. Through hearing about practical examples of pilot schemes in the Hampshire area, it challenged the delegates to think about how their organisation can and should be responding. Specifically it addressed:

  • how to work with service users to develop new ways of working
  • the issues around employing a flexible workforce which include managing safeguarding issues
  • the legal issues involved in setting up new contracts
  • the impact on business plans of more ‘spot purchased’ services
  • how to maintain service quality and ensure compliance with regulation
  • how to manage the cultural change for staff and service users
