South Coast green breakfast - Southampton - 9 October 2012 - Eastleigh's green challenges

On Tuesday 9 October Blake Lapthorn were joined by Councillor Keith House from Eastleigh Borough Council. 

A Liberal Democrat Leader of Eastleigh Borough Council in Hampshire since 1994, Councillor Keith House is currently a member of Hampshire County Council and is the Leader of the Opposition there. On the regional stage, Keith was the Chair of the South East England Regional Assembly and is now a Board member of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) nationally.  He has chaired various Local Government Association bodies and is now a Deputy Chair of the Environment & Housing Board.

At Eastleigh, Keith led the introduction of Local Area Committees with devolved decision-making and budgets, the transfer of assets to Town and Parish Councils and the establishment of new Parish Councils.  He is a passionate advocate of localism and introduced three key priorities for the Council – health, prosperity, and the environment.

On Tuesday, Mr House spoke about the steps that Eastleigh Borough Council is taking to tackle climate change.
