Blake Lapthorn acts for Chris Candy in acquisition of Gordon
House
Blake Lapthorn, one of the leading law firms in the UK, is
pleased to announce that it has assisted Christian Candy with his
acquisition of multi-million pound Chelsea property Gordon
House.
Blake Lapthorn provided legal advice to Chris Candy helping to
ensure that he was able to secure the acquisition for circa £75
million – the guide price. Gordon House is a substantial listed
property and grounds themselves set within the grounds of The Royal
Hospital, Chelsea.
Gordon House, The Orangery, Creek Lodge and grounds, are tied to
the long and celebrated history of The Royal Hospital since the
17th Century. The relationship between the buildings and the
landscape represent the shifting architectural styles and
priorities of three centuries of British design. Together, they
comprise a unique private residence, an historic manor house,
out-buildings and grounds, in the heart of central London. Gordon
House, Creek Lodge and The Orangery are Grade II listed. The latter
is by far the oldest building on the site dating back to 1725 and
is attributed to the architect Sir John Vanbrugh, best known as the
designer of Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire.
Philip Diamond, the head of Blake Lapthorn's Real Estate
department who advised Chris Candy on the deal, said: "We are
delighted to have been able to assist our client in securing this
unique and fantastic London property in what is one of the most
significant deals of this nature this year. Blake Lapthorn is
focused on providing its clients with the highest level of service,
so we were pleased that Chris chose us to advise him on this
acquisition."
