New regulations on the re-use of public
sector information have been passed that are designed to encourage
public bodies to license their information to third parties for
commercial use. The regulations govern how a request for re-use
should be made, timescales within which a response must be made,
and where the request is accepted, the terms on which the
information may be licensed.
