The Environmental Information Regulations 2004 replaced the previous regulations that give the public access to environmental information held by public bodies. The regime is similar to the access regime for Freedom of Information, but has distinct variations that can trip up the unwary.  A request for information made under the Freedom of Information Act that is for environmental information within the definition of the Environmental Information Regulations must be handled under the access regime under the Regulations.

Our Information team can advise on all aspects of the access regime under the Regulations, but with the notable advantage of assistance from the firm’s expert environmental lawyers.
