A warm welcome to the Vigil website, which has been designed as a practical reference tool for those within your company with responsibility for HR.

Please take a moment to read the Vigil disclaimer before going further to help you understand how to use this site.

what's new

The right hand side shows this month's update of important case law developments and legislation changes, together with practical pointers.

topics

The left hand menu covers information and precedents on a given area of employment law. Each topic's resources are separated into pages giving guidance, precedents for contracts and handbooks, forms and draft letters, and any other related content. When you have clicked on a topic, the available guidance in that topic will appear on the left hand side, with the precedents and other related content appearing in the centre.

sections

Some topics have several sections of guidance covering different areas. When you have chosen the one you want, you can still see the other sections available within the topic. Longer sections are broken down into a series of pages with an accompanying section index at the top of the page. To give you the complete picture, you must read the section in its entirety, but the section index will help you identify specific points of interest.

related pages/related resources

On the right hand side these show you other "quick links" for content related to the page you are on.

recent pages

This displays the last five page visits within the Vigil website, making it easy to return to previously viewed content. Alternatively you can use the 'breadcrumb' trail at the top to take you quickly back to the topics.

Word icon

Clicking on this icon allows you to generate precedent policies, forms, and letters in Microsoft Word format. This means you can adapt the documents to your particular situation, but please ensure you have taken note of the warning contained in the footer of each Word document before using it.

purple action bars

On the right hand side of every page, these help you search the Vigil site for what you are looking for, make suggestions, or contact us if you have an enquiry that needs specific advice.
