Our Environment team includes specialists in the conduct of
environmental disputes, judicial review of administrative decisions
and environmental warranty and indemnity claims. We also have
considerable experience of handling criminal investigations and
prosecutions in the environmental and health and safety
field. We use in-house advocates wherever possible.
Members of our team have, for example, recently represented
clients in relation to:
- defending a university in connection with an investigation by
the Environment Agency into unauthorised discharges to air
- advising an animal feed mill in connection with an
investigation by the Environment Agency into pollution of a
watercourse
- defending a multi-national food manufacturing chain against
charges arising from a pollution incident following an unauthorised
discharge to a watercourse
- defending a national waste management company in connection
with charges brought by the Environment Agency arising from breach
of an IPPC consent
- defending a property development company against charges under
the Protection of Badgers Act
- advising and defending a major national pub company and a
national leisure centre operator in respect of noise abatement
notices
- defending a national bookseller, a chain of convenience stores
and a hardware wholesaler against charges under the packaging waste
regulations
