environmental permitting

The new system of environmental permitting has come into force. All existing pollution prevention and control permits (PPC) and waste management licences (WML) have become 'environmental permits'. New applications will be for environmental permits rather than a PPC or WML. The intention of the new regime is that standard permits will be able to be issued to low risk sites, there will be one permit that covers all the activities on a site, cost and determination periods will be reduced and the rules will be clearer.
