REACH registration 

From 1 June 2008, pre-registration of existing substances under the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) commenced. If you manufacture or import more than one tonne of a chemical substance per annum, it is possible to pre-register that substance. The benefit of preregistration is that importers will be able to work together to provide the necessary technical information for the more detailed full registration process which starts in December.
