  • The European Commission has recently issued guidance to the EC regulation on active and intelligent materials and articles intended to come into contact with food (EC 450/2009).
  • The Food Standards Agency is consulting on a number of aspects of recent changes to the EU Food Hygiene Regulations.
  • Following the publication of the UK Government’s response to the hospitality theme of the Red Tape Challenge, the FSA has launched two initial consultations into how food law applies to community halls (such as village or church halls) that are used for the preparation, sale or supply of food and to childminders who provide food on a regular basis to the children that they look after.
  • Two new food ingredients have recently been approved for use as novel food ingredients within the EU – Glavonoid and yeast beta-glucans.
