The "domestic worker" immigration category allows overseas
employers to bring their domestic workers with them when they visit
or move to the UK. Once a domestic worker has been
in the UK for five years, they can apply to stay here
permanently.
The qualifying criteria to come to the UK as a domestic
worker include requirements that they must have been working
for at least one year immediately before their application:
- as a domestic worker in the same house as their employer
or
- in a household that their employer uses on a regular basis, and
there is evidence of a connection between them and their
employer.
An applicant must also:
- be aged between 18 and 65
- intend to travel to the UK with their employer, their
employer's spouse or civil partner, or their employer's child who
is under 18.
