education, education, education - what happens when the money
runs out?
details
In anticipation of the cuts that we are expected to see in both
the private and public education sector, the Turnaround Management
Association put together a panel of speakers who looked at the
challenging times ahead for this sector and the opportunities for
turnaround professionals at Blake Lapthorn's Southampton office on
26 May 2010. With the likelihood of significant cuts in Government
funding and continued pressures for most of the independent sectors
this topic is likely to affect everyone, either directly or
indirectly.
The panel considered what turnaround professionals can (and
cannot) do in order to support educational businesses given the
distinct business, legal and regulatory issues which they
present. To view the slides please see below.
The panel were:
- Adrian Owen, Partner, Blake Lapthorn, Head of Insolvency and
Business Recovery team
- Lorraine Ashover, Director, Minerva Procurement Consultancy
Services Limited, specialist educational consultants. Lorraine was
a senior manager at Barclays for many years where she focussed on
customers in the education sector
- Adrian Pashley, senior solicitor, Blake Lapthorn, member of
Charities team with particular focus on education
The session concluded at 7.30 pm when networking opportunites
over refreshments were available.
