Whilst Mike's history lies on the contentious side of the
insolvency practice, having qualified as a general commercial
litigator in 1999, he has specialised in insolvency since 2001 and
has a depth of technical insolvency knowledge. Mike is a full
member of (and regional committee member for) industry body R3 (for
whom he has also written and lectured), of the Insolvency Lawyers'
Association and of INSOL (a network of insolvency professionals
interested in cross-border insolvency work). He is also a member of
the firm's Construction and Development sector group.
Mike's main legal practice within the team lies in advising and
representing qualified insolvency practitioner accountants and
corporate creditors affected by the insolvency of trading partners,
from securing appointments to pursuing claims in the name of the IP
and/or insolvent company to make realisations into the insolvent
estate. In addition, Mike frequently represents private individuals
including bankrupts, their spouses and co-owners, and former
directors of insolvent companies.
Building upon his European law studies and his experiences of
living in Brussels and in the Netherlands, Mike is also
developing a growing cross-border practice working with insolvency
professionals in other jurisdictions to help facilitate solutions
for clients whose interests are not limited by national
boundaries.
