More than 150,000 people get divorced each year. It can be a painful and distressing experience.  Collaborative law is an offering for our clients designed to minimise the pain and distress of the divorce process.

Collaborative law has been devised by family lawyers to manage the divorce process in a dignified manner.  Divorcing couples set the agenda themselves and discuss what they want in a series of face-to-face meetings.

Couples can, therefore, work out issues such as children or finances without risking the threat of court action during the negotiations.

In Blake Lapthorn’s Family team, Christine Plews, a partner in based in Oxford and Simon Burge, a partner in Southampton are both trained collaborative law specialists.
