the Regulatory Cup

Blake Lapthorn is pleased to announce the inaugural Regulatory Cup, a five-a-side football tournament, which will take place on Wednesday 9 January 2008 at the Paddington Recreational Ground.

The tournament, which is being organised and run by law firm Blake Lapthorn, will bring together the majority of healthcare regulators, and possibly the Department of Health, for the tournament in the new year.

Teams so far have been confirmed from the Healthcare Commission, the General Medical Council, Health Professions Council, General Dental Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council, and the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence. The matches will run from 5.00 to 9.15 pm, followed by some informal celebratory drinks.

There is already growing anticipation ahead of the event from within the various regulatory bodies.  If the event proves to be a success, The Regulatory Cup will become a regular fixture covering other sports and activities.

Christopher Alder, from Blake Lapthorn's Regulatory practice group, commented: "The tournament will be great fun and hopefully we'll see some exciting, beautiful regulatory football.  It will also be beneficial to players and supporters alike by enhancing communication between regulators as well as strengthening relationships."
