The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) has announced changes to the Building Regulations from 6 April 2006. The ODPM website states that the changes have been introduced to make buildings more energy efficient by saving one million tonnes of carbon per year.

As with the existing Building Regulations, the new measures are relevant when you (or an occupier) contemplate works to a property or you decide to buy a property where specific works have been completed.

Part F of the Building Regulations deals with ventilation and part L covers energy efficiency.

The documents outlining the new measures are still in draft versions on the ODPM website. We will return to this topic in our next newsletter.
