Clinical negligence is a highly complex and specialist area of law. It requires medical as well as legal knowledge, and an empathy with the feelings and needs of the people and their families who have been harmed by negligent treatment. The evidence shows that specialist solicitors are much more likely to make an accurate assessment of the chances of success in claiming compensation for clinical negligence and to get the best result for their clients. Unfortunately many claimants have been badly let down by solicitors taking on clinical negligence cases which they are not competent to handle.

Blake Lapthorn solicitors are members of the Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA) Lawyers' service and Alison McClure and Sue Jarvis are accredited specialists on AvMA's clinical negligence panel. Furthermore, if you would like to read an interesting piece on AvMA by Caron Heyes, who is the head of our Clinical Negligence team in London, please click on the following link: working with AvMA.  Caron spends one day a week working at AvMA and has written the piece focusing on her experience in general, an overview of AvMA and her involvement with the organisation.

AvMA is a registered charity promoting patient safety and justice for people affected by medical accidents or negligence.  Membership of AvMA's clinical negligence panel is widely recognised as the quality mark of expertise in clinical negligence.  Membership of AvMA's Lawyers service ensure access to specialist advice, information, training and medical experts for clinical negligence lawyers.
