gynaecology

Gynaecological surgery has undergone
considerable changes because of advances in technology. This
means that new procedures, particularly the use of endoscopes and
minimal access type surgery and techniques are now available.
Techniques include use of laser treatment and diathermy.
We have experience of a large variety of
gynaecological cases. Some of these will relate to acute
obstetric gynaecoligical injuries. Others relate to
longer-term problems and elective surgery. Examples of the
types of cases we might see are:
- identification and treatment of perineal tears
- surgery for urinary continence
- treatment of prolapse i.e. rectocoele and cystocoele
- delay in diagnosis of cervical cancer
- damage to adjacent structures during uterine surgery, by
diatheramy or laser
- failure correctly to interpret smear results
- failure correctly to interpret biopsy results, leading to delay
in diagnosis of cancer
- failing properly to investigate inter-menstrual bleeding,
leading to delay in diagnosis of cancer
- inappropriate treatment of uterine fibroids
- inadequate technique for sterilisation procedures
We are happy to provide detailed technical legal and medical
understanding for these cases. Also we recognise that the
issues concern very personal matters which we are able to manage
with care and skill. We can provide expertise from medically
qualified and nursing/ midwifery-qualified staff to support our
clients.
