Karen read law and German law at Kingston University gaining a 2.1 (Hons) in Law with German Law. As part of her studies she spent a year reading German law at Mannheim University. She speaks German and is able to assist other teams in the firm translating legal documents when required.

Karen qualified in 2007 and joined our Family team in Oxford in April 2008. She was promoted to Associate in November 2012 and now works in our London office. Prior to her qualification Karen spent a number of years working in London in both the legal and commercial sectors gaining valuable experience . She represents clients all over the UK, in Europe and Australia/America.

Karen specialises in family law. She has a keen interest in financial proceedings arising from relationship breakdown and enjoys negotiating complex financial claims. She frequently represents clients in the RAF and NHS dealing with cases involving substantial pension assets. She advises and represents clients in all aspects of divorce and financial matters. She often assists clients in children act proceedings and has a keen interest in cases involving the permanent removal of children from the jurisdiction. Often she acts in children act proceedings involving allegations of sexual and physical abuse and those with implacable hostility as well as representing clients in emergency injunction proceedings where domestic violence is an issue.

She advises on all aspects of co-habitee disputes, including disputes concerning ownership of property and financial relief for children as well as advising on and preparing pre/post nuptial agreements, co-habitation agreements, separation agreements and parenting agreements.

Karen is keen to work closely with her clients to find the best solution and provides support and advice during negotiations and beyond, something which her clients regularly praise her for.
