Blake Lapthorn has recently been appointed as one of the
partners for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office's (FCO) 'Know
Before You Go' (KBYG) Campaign. The campaign has been created to
reduce the number of preventable problems faced by British
travellers abroad.
By providing the right information to travellers before they set
off, Blake Lapthorn is able to assist its clients and ensure they
know what to do if they run into difficulties abroad. The FCO
offers travel advice, top tips and up-to-date country information
to help travellers plan their holiday. Key tips for travellers from
the FCO include:
- make sure you have valid travel insurance, even if you’re only
planning a short trip
- visit your GP at least six weeks before you travel to get any
vaccinations you might need
- read up on your destination, including local laws and
customs
- make photocopies of your passport, visas and insurance details
and leave a copy with a relative or friend at home
- register with the FCO’s
LOCATE service to tell it where you are travelling to so
the embassy and crisis staff can provide better assistance in an
emergency such as a tsunami or terrorist attack.
