Problems can arise if you are no longer able to manage your
affairs due to an accident, illness, old age or absence from this
country, whether on business or permanently.
It is however possible to make arrangements for someone to look
after your assets and financial affairs, either now or in the
future, if for any reason you are unable to do so personally. This
can be achieved by signing a document called a lasting power of
attorney, which will allow you to choose whom you would like to
manage your affairs if for any reason you are unable to do so in
the future. It could save you and your family a great deal of the
cost, delay and distress that might otherwise result from your
incapacity or absence.
