The court will either impose penalty points or a disqualification. In addition the motorist will be fined. If the motorist could be covered the penalty will be:

  • maximum fine: £1,000 (starting point: 50% of weekly take home pay up to a maximum of £1,000)
  • penalty points: licence not endorsed

If not, the penalties will be:

  • maximum fine: £1,000 (starting point: 50% of weekly take home pay up to a maximum of £1,000)
  • penalty points: three - six penalty points or possible disqualification

It will be an aggravating factor if no licence ever held.
