driver banned for driving too slowly on motorway

North Avon Magistrates Court has sent a warning to drivers that
driving at an excessivley low speed can amount to inconsiderate
driving.
Stephanie Cole from Bristol has been banned from driving for
seven days after she drove along the M32 motorway at speeds lower
than 10mph. Mrs Cole repeatedly braked as she straddled the hard
shoulder of the M32. Mrs Cole admitted driving without reasonable
consideration and was ordered to re-sit her driving test. She had
been travelling from her home to a Staples stationery store when
she was arrested by police on 30 August.
This case again raises questions about the need for a minimum as
well as a maximum speed limit on the roads, although motoring
organisations, including the AA, have pointed out the likely
difficulty in enforcing such a limit.
