bicycle accident affects work capability - case study

Our client was cycling home from work in broad daylight. At one
point he wanted to cross the road, stopped at a pedestrian crossing
and waited for the traffic lights to turn red when it was safe to
cross. As he was crossing, he was knocked off his bicycle by a car
which failed to stop at the traffic lights. Our client suffered a
head injury from hitting his head on the windscreen, a laceration
to his neck, abrasions to his left shoulder and chest as well as a
pain in his neck.
As a result of these injuries, our client was off work
for seven months and was not able to return to his previous
job which involved heavy lifting.
outcome: Our client settled out of court for
£30,000.
